Carry On

Carry On

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is one of the most superb works of teen lit I have read to date. From the second I picked it up I became sucked in, and didn’t leave my couch until I had read the whole book in one day. This book is written fantastically, and reads sort of like a very professional fanfiction.

When Simon Snow was younger, he was orphaned and left in foster care, and eventually found by a Mage who told him he was the chosen one, destined to save the World of Magic from a terrible magic-eating force. Simon is whisked away time Watford School of Magyks, where he meets best friend Penelope and arch-enemy Baz. Everyone is confused when Baz doesn’t show up to Watford for his and Simon’s final year at school and at first, Simon is glad that his arch-enemy isn’t there to torment him. When Baz finally returns under misterious circumstances, he, Penelope, and Simon recive a message from beyond the vail- instructing them to avenge Baz’s mother’s death.

can Simon, Baz, and Penelope find a happily ever after while the whole World of Magic is at stake?

Author: Rainbow Rowell

Added bonuses: Gay/queer subplot, really sweet friendships.

Genre: fantasy, YA
